Yes, the past year and a half had been quite distressing for the boholanos. The tourism industry slugged with empty restaurants, emptier hotels and the emptiest, earthquake- destroyed and under-repair churches. Now, even if the rainy season is not over yet, our spirits are lifting with the sight of clear blue skies, calm waters, and of course, the rays of sunlight that invite not only tourists but locals too out into the streets, shops, and to the beach which is what these Americans and Europeans come to our island for their holidays.
The recent holiday season had been quite brisk and busy but too short to make up for those lean months. These rays of sunlight are rays of hope for a better year to come. And what better way to welcome it is by celebrating the joyful festivities of the Chinese New Year.
We , at La Pernela like the rest of our tourism colleagues are getting ready for it. We have a new kid in town too that gives us a sweet, delicious ray of expectation and that is the marvelous cupcake shop called “Mosia’s” along Mansasa Road. Their chocolate Truffle is something to hike out there for. We have served it for our New Year’s dinner that it surely made me and my guests resolve to have a truffle for every month of the year. Who knows one day people would flock to Bohol not only to see the Chocolate Hills but also the mouth-watering chocolate truffle confectioned by the loving hands of my friends, Olga and Lena.
